Back in the 1820s, Dawes Black Horse Brewery was busy brewing in Lachine, Quebec, long before anyone imagined its ads and bottles would become collector gold.
Today, hunting down a tin tray, enamel sign, or stout little Black Horse bottle feels a bit like winning a vintage Canadian treasure hunt, especially if you love breweriana, farm history, or quirky old-school artwork. Dawes Black Horse breweriana is a real bonus for any Canadian collector or anyone wanting a cool piece of Canadian brewing history for over their bar or in the rec room!
If you want to learn more, even though the beer vanished from Quebec shelves years ago, the old Dawes Black Horse brewery site in Lachine is still very much alive as part of the Musée de Lachine, where you can explore fun exhibits that pour out stories about its early ads, brewing days, and rich local heritage.

Did you know that we do not have a Canadian Beer Museum or A Canadian Beer Hall of Fame? Either would go perfectly next door to the Hockey Hall of Fame for a drink after! Someone needs to start a writing campaign......or a place to start donating empties.
