B.C.'s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, has become a local celebrity during the Covid pandemic. Her resolve, approach and motto, "Be kind, be calm, be safe", has resonated with B.C. citizens during these tough times, and has spawned fan made merchandise in her support with partial proceeds benefiting local charities.

John Fluevog, Vancouver designer, stated,
“At times like these, we’re so fortunate to have someone who is calm and comforting but direct, and positive but realistic, informing and educating us day to day,”. He isn't the only one who feels this way, as her likeness on many items has sold out across the province!

The type of items that have been created have spanned from necklaces, tea towels, enamel pins, t shirts to designer shoes, mugs, buttons, posters and fan made art. It seems that Dr. Henry's likeness has become a symbol to B.C. residents to carry on and be their best.
Dr. Henry was asked how she felt about this outpouring of support and her likeness being used as a symbol of strength during the Covid crisis.

"It's kind of a little disconcerting. I am pleased that the money is going to something that is important and I know many people are supporting a number of initiatives, like the food bank, like the WISH initiative in the Downtown Eastside and a number of others, and for that I am grateful,”
She also stated, "If using my likeness can help with that then that’s a good thing.”
During these tough times it's great to have some inspiration and her words of
"Be kind, be calm, be safe" should be the motto we all adopt when dealing with this unprecedented situation. Thanks Dr. Henry.
